FAT2 Inhibitors

FAT2 is part of the FAT cadherin family with distinct roles in cell polarity, adhesion, and tissue size. While there isn't a known class of chemicals called FAT2 inhibitors, there are several chemicals that can indirectly influence the signaling pathways FAT2 is implicated in. Wnt3a and IWP-2, for instance, are chemicals that influence the Wnt signaling pathway. The Wnt pathway is crucial for regulating cell polarity, and since FAT2 has a role in maintaining cell polarity, these chemicals are vital. BIO and Lithium Chloride are inhibitors of GSK-3β, which can indirectly activate the Wnt pathway and consequently influence FAT2-mediated processes. PD98059, an inhibitor of the MAPK pathway, has implications for cell adhesion, which is another function of FAT2. In the same vein, Y-27632, a ROCK inhibitor, and Forskolin, which elevates cAMP levels, can impact cell adhesion processes and cell polarity, roles synonymous with FAT2. Another notable compound is Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), a PKC activator which can affect cell-cell junctions and interactions, processes that FAT2 is believed to influence. Chemicals such as EGF, Nocodazole, and Rapamycin target pathways that either influence cell polarity or growth control, linking back to FAT2's known functions in cells.
