However, it's important to note that the primary product of this gene is a non-coding RNA rather than a protein.BCMP1 is classified as a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), a type of RNA molecule that does not code for protein but plays crucial roles in regulating gene expression and other cellular processes. It's predominantly found in the cytoplasm of neurons, hence its name, Brain Cytoplasmic RNA 1.BCMP1 was first identified in rat brains and is highly conserved among mammals, suggesting that it has essential biological functions. It is predominantly expressed in the brain, particularly in the cortex and hippocampus, regions associated with higher cognitive functions.
