ATF-5, or activating transcription factor 5, is a transcription factor that plays a critical role in regulating gene expression in response to various cellular stressors. It belongs to the ATF/cyclic AMP-responsive element-binding (CREB) protein family and contains a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) domain, which allows it to bind to specific DNA sequences known as cAMP-responsive elements (CREs).
