ARHGEF10 Activators

ARHGEF10 (Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 10) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ARHGEF10 gene. This protein is part of the Rho GEF family, which functions to activate Rho GTPases by facilitating the exchange of GDP for GTP. Rho GTPases are critical regulators of the actin cytoskeleton and are involved in various cellular processes, including cell morphology, vesicular trafficking, cell migration, and cell cycle progression.

ARHGEF10 specifically activates the RhoA GTPase, a member of the Rho family, playing a significant role in the regulation of neuronal morphology and the development of the nervous system. It has been implicated in the process of myelination in peripheral nerves, which is essential for the proper conduction of electrical signals in the nervous system. Mutations or alterations in the ARHGEF10 gene have been linked to slowed nerve conduction velocity and other neurological disorders. The protein is also thought to contribute to the maintenance of the cytoskeletal architecture required for axon guidance and neuronal growth. By influencing the dynamics of actin and microtubules, ARHGEF10 is essential for the structural and functional plasticity of neurons.
