ACTBL1 Activators

ACTBL1, also known as Actin, beta-like 1, is a protein that shares high sequence similarity with cytoplasmic beta-actin. It is a member of the highly conserved actin family, which plays a fundamental role in the maintenance of the cytoskeleton in virtually all eukaryotic cells. ACTBL1 is encoded by the gene ACTBL2, and while it is structurally related to the conventional actin proteins, it has unique non-muscle functions within the cell. The ACTBL1 protein contributes to various processes that are essential for cell viability and homeostasis. Its involvement in the formation of the cytoskeleton provides structural support to cells, aids in the regulation of cell shape, and is crucial for cell motility. The dynamic polymerization and depolymerization of actin, which ACTBL1 influences, are central to the process of cellular locomotion and the intricate architecture of the cytoskeleton.

Furthermore, ACTBL1 has a role in intracellular transport, where it serves as a track for the movement of organelles and vesicles within the cell. This is vital for processes such as endocytosis, exocytosis, and the positioning of organelles. In addition to cytoskeletal functions, ACTBL1 is involved in other cellular activities such as cell division, where it contributes to the formation of the contractile ring during cytokinesis. This role is paramount for the proper segregation of chromosomes and the successful completion of cell division.
