ZAG Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ZAG (Zn-α2-glycoprotein) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ZAG is a soluble, secreted protein predominantly found in serum and various body fluids, including cerebrospinal fluid, blood plasma, urine, and sweat. ZAG (F-9) antibody targets a protein that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism, stimulating lipid degradation in adipocytes, which is significant for understanding metabolic disorders and mechanisms behind fat loss in certain advanced cancers. The structure of ZAG features a large groove similar to the peptide binding grooves of class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins, although ZAG does not bind the class I light chain β-2-Microglobulin. This unique structural characteristic allows ZAG to interact with specific proteins in the immune system, contributing to ZAG′s function in lipid metabolism and potential implications in cancer biology. With high sequence similarity to class-I MHC antigens, anti-ZAG antibody (F-9) serves as an essential tool for scientists studying both metabolic and oncological pathways.
