MPP4 Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MPP4 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MPP4, also known as membrane protein, palmitoylated 4, or MAGUK p55 subfamily member 4, is a 637 amino acid protein belonging to the MAGUK family, which is crucial for the development of retinal photoreceptors. MPP4 is predominantly expressed in the retina, with lower levels found in the testis and brain, highlighting its specialized role in visual function. MPP4 contains a guanylate kinase-like domain, an SH3 domain, a PDZ (DHR) domain, and two L27 domains, which are essential for its interactions and functions within the cell. Notably, MPP4 undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in five distinct isoforms that may have varying roles in cellular processes. The importance of MPP4 is underscored by its association with autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa 26 (RP26), as MPP4 co-localizes with the implicated genes on human chromosome 2q33.1, making MPP4 a significant target for research into retinal diseases. Anti-MPP4 antibody (C-7) is an invaluable tool for studying the dynamics of MPP4 and its implications in retinal health and disease.
