Lamin B1 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Lamin B1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Lamin B1 antibody (C-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Lamin B1 plays a crucial role in maintaining nuclear envelope structural integrity and is a key component of the nuclear lamina, which provides a scaffold for the nuclear envelope and interacts with chromatin to regulate gene expression. Proper localization of Lamin B1 within the nucleus is essential for cellular function, helping organize chromatin and participating in DNA replication and repair. Disruption of Lamin B1 can lead to various cellular dysfunctions and is implicated in several diseases, including laminopathies, which are genetic disorders caused by mutations in genes encoding nuclear lamins. Lamin B1 undergoes post-translational modifications, such as phosphorylation and farnesylation, which are critical for function and stability; increased phosphorylation of Lamin B1 has been observed prior to nuclear envelope disintegration during apoptosis, indicating its role in cellular process regulation.
