SEE ALSO...

glypican-1 Antibody (4D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects glypican-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). anti-glypican-1 antibody (4D1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glypican-1 (GPC1) is a crucial member of the glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans, playing a significant role in cell adhesion, migration, and modulation of growth factor activities. GPC1 is located on the cell surface, where GPC1 interacts with several fibroblast growth factors (FGFs), including FGF-1, FGF-2, and FGF-7, thereby influencing cellular responses to these growth factors. GPC1 presence on marrow stromal cells is particularly important as GPC1 may facilitate maintenance and development of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. GPC1 acts as an extracellular chaperone for vascular endothelial growth factor 165 (VEGF165), enhancing receptor binding ability after oxidative stress. In pancreatic cancer, GPC1 is overexpressed compared to normal pancreatic cells, suggesting GPC1 involvement in tumor response to mitogenic stimuli such as FGF-2. The gene encoding human GPC1 is located on chromosome 2q37.3, highlighting genetic significance in various biological processes and disease states.
