EGFR Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects a peptide mapping within a C-terminal cytoplasmic domain of EGFR of human origin in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EGFR plays a crucial role in cell signaling and is primarily located on the cell membrane, where EGFR functions as a receptor tyrosine kinase. This strategic positioning allows EGFR to effectively bind to ligands, such as epidermal growth factor (EGF) and transforming growth factor alpha (TGFα), initiating a cascade of intracellular signaling pathways that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. EGFR signaling is integral to processes like wound healing, where EGFR promotes keratinocyte migration and proliferation to restore tissue integrity. Furthermore, EGFR plays a key role during embryonic development, ensuring proper organ formation and cellular differentiation. EGFR′s membrane location is essential, as activation leads to receptor internalization and subsequent degradation, a process vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Dysregulation of EGFR signaling is often implicated in various cancers, making EGFR a significant target for therapeutic intervention. By utilizing anti-EGFR antibody (E-8), researchers can gain insights into EGFR′s role in both normal physiology and disease states, furthering understanding of EGFR′s potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target in oncology.
