SEE ALSO...

HSV-1 ICP8 Antibody (10A3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the HSV1 ICP8 protein of Herpes simplex virus origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-HSV-1 ICP8 antibody (10A3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The herpes simplex virus (HSV), commonly known for causing cold sores, is a highly contagious pathogen that can establish latent infections in the host, leading to potential reactivation and disease. HSV-1 ICP8, the major single-strand DNA-binding protein encoded by HSV1, plays a crucial role in the viral life cycle by facilitating the assembly of single-stranded DNA into a homologous duplex plasmid, which is essential for viral replication. Additionally, HSV-1 ICP8 exhibits helix destabilizing activity, allowing promotion of the reverse reaction at higher concentrations, thereby influencing the dynamics of DNA replication. Understanding HSV-1 ICP8 function is vital, as this protein not only aids in viral replication but also serves as a target for therapeutic interventions aimed at controlling HSV infections.

Can HSV-1 ICP8 (10A3): sc-53329 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, HSV-1 ICP8 (10A3): sc-53329 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
