Insulin Antibody (3A1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody engineered to target purified human insulin with exceptional precision. Anti-insulin antibody (3A1) recognizes a defined epitope on the insulin molecule, enabling robust detection and analysis in various applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-insulin antibody (3A1) also cross-reacts with insulin from other species, including bovine and porcine, providing versatility for comparative studies across different biological systems. Insulin itself is a vital peptide hormone produced by the pancreas, playing a crucial role in regulating metabolic processes by facilitating glucose uptake into cells, promoting glycogen synthesis, and thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Insulin is initially synthesized as preproinsulin, which is subsequently processed to proinsulin and finally to the active mature insulin hormone composed of 51 amino acids arranged in an A chain and a B chain connected by two disulfide bridges. Beyond its primary role in glucose metabolism, insulin increases cell permeability to monosaccharides, amino acids, and fatty acids, making insulin essential for overall cellular function and energy storage. Insulin secretion is meticulously regulated in response to blood glucose levels, with basal secretion maintaining normal glucose homeostasis and increased secretion occurring postprandially when glucose levels rise. Dysregulation of insulin production or action can lead to significant metabolic disorders such as hyperproinsulinemia and type 2 diabetes mellitus, highlighting the importance of insulin in maintaining metabolic balance. Anti-insulin antibody (3A1) serves as an indispensable tool for researchers studying insulin signaling pathways, metabolic regulation, and the pathophysiology of diabetes, facilitating advancements in our understanding and treatment of these critical health conditions.

I am using Insulin (3A1): sc-52035 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
