ACOT7 Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects ACOT7 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACOT7, also known as acyl-CoA thioesterase 7, BACH (brain acyl-CoA hydrolase), LACH, or CTE-II, is a 380 amino acid protein that exists in six alternatively spliced isoforms, which can localize to either the cytoplasm or mitochondria. ACOT7 functions as a homodimer containing two acyl coenzyme A hydrolase domains, playing a crucial role in regulating acyl-CoA levels within the body, particularly in the brain, where ACOT7 is essential for maintaining proper physiological function. The regulation of acyl-CoA levels is vital, as imbalances can lead to metabolic disorders and neurological issues. Notably, decreased expression of ACOT7 has been linked to mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, a form of focal epilepsy characterized by simple or complex seizures, highlighting the importance of ACOT7 in both metabolic regulation and neurological health.
