Zonadhesin Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Zonadhesin protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Zonadhesin antibody (H-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Zonadhesin, also referred to as ZAN, is a crucial sperm-specific transmembrane protein that plays a vital role in fertilization by binding spermatozoa to the zona pellucida of the oocyte, thus initiating acrosomal fusion. Zonadhesin is primarily expressed in the testis and is localized to the apical region of the sperm head, where Zonadhesin facilitates species-specific cell adhesion, which is essential for successful fertilization. Structurally, Zonadhesin is composed of 2,812 amino acids and features three MAM (Meprin/A5 antigen/m receptor tyrosine phosphatase) domains that are integral to sperm adhesion, as well as four von Willebrand factor (VWF) domains that promote covalent oligomerization. Notably, Zonadhesin exists in seven isoforms due to alternative splicing, with four of these variants being expressed at low levels because of a premature mRNA stop codon that leads to nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. The unique structural characteristics and functional importance of Zonadhesin underscore Zonadhesin′s significance in reproductive biology, making Zonadhesin monoclonal antibody (H-2) an essential tool for researchers studying fertility and sperm function.
