ZFP161 Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ZFP161 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ZFP161 (C-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ZFP161, also known as zinc finger protein 161, ZF5, ZBTB14, or ZNF478, is a 449 amino acid protein belonging to the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. ZFP161 is primarily localized in distinct regions of the nucleus, where ZFP161 plays a crucial role in gene regulation by acting as a transcriptional repressor for the Thymidine Kinase (TK) and c-Myc promoters, while simultaneously functioning as a transcriptional activator for the dopamine transporter (DAT) promoter. The structural composition of ZFP161 includes one BTB (POZ) domain and five C2H2-type zinc fingers, which are essential for specific localization and nucleic acid binding capabilities. Defects in the gene encoding ZFP161 have been linked to holoprosencephaly type 4 (HPE4), a serious structural anomaly of the brain that can lead to significant developmental issues, including facial deformities and, in severe cases, infant mortality.
