VPS18 Antibody (237.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects VPS18 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-VPS18 antibody (237.1) is available as a non-conjugated format. VPS18, also known as vacuolar protein sorting 18 or PEP3, is a crucial 973 amino acid peripheral membrane protein that plays a significant role in protein trafficking to the vacuole, essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and function. VPS18 (237.1) antibody targets a protein predominantly localized to late endosomes, where VPS18 is involved in membrane docking reactions and vesicle-mediated protein trafficking to lysosomal compartments. VPS18 facilitates proper sorting and delivery of proteins, vital for cellular processes such as nutrient uptake and waste disposal. VPS18 is expressed ubiquitously, with highest levels found in heart and lowest in lung, and exists in a large hetero-oligomeric complex with other vacuolar sorting proteins, including VPS11 and VPS16. VPS18 contains one clathrin repeat and one RING-type zinc finger, and two isoforms arise from alternative splicing events, highlighting the complexity and regulatory mechanisms governing VPS18 function.
