Datasheets
  • VGAT Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM κ VGAT antibody, cited in 8 publications, provided at 200 µg/ml
  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 71-98 near the N-terminus of VGAT of human origin
  • recommended for detection of VGAT of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA
  • m-IgGκ BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for VGAT Antibody (F-2) for WB applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with VGAT Antibody (F-2) (see ordering information below). For additional m-IgGκ BP conjugates see our complete list of Mouse IgG Binding Proteins.

SEE ALSO...

VGAT Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects VGAT protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-VGAT antibody (F-2) is available as the non-conjugated form. The vesicular GABA transporter (VGAT) plays a crucial role in synaptic transmission by facilitating the loading of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an essential inhibitory neurotransmitter, into synaptic vesicles. This process is vital for maintaining the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the nervous system, which is critical for proper neuronal function and overall brain health. VGAT is predominantly expressed in the nerve endings of inhibitory neurons that contain GABA and/or glycine, and VGAT expression is tightly regulated during neocortical development, where VGAT precedes the maturation of inhibitory synaptogenesis. This suggests that VGAT is not only important for neurotransmitter loading but may also contribute to the formation of GABAergic circuitry in the developing brain. Furthermore, alterations in VGAT function have been implicated in various neurological conditions, including epilepsy, highlighting VGAT significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
