    Vaccinia Virus Antibody (TV43) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Vaccinia Virus by western blotting (WB). Vaccinia Virus is a member of the poxvirus family and is notable for its double-stranded DNA structure, which played a crucial role in the historical eradication of smallpox through vaccination. The Vaccinia Virus A27L gene encodes a fusion protein that is essential for the entry of intracellular enveloped virus (IEV) into host cells, facilitating both virus-to-cell and cell-to-cell fusions. This fusion protein is vital for the microtubule-dependent transport of intracellular mature virus particles and is involved in the envelopment process that leads to IEV formation. The N-terminus of the fusion protein specifically recognizes heparan sulfate on the cell surface, allowing interaction with the negatively charged sulfates of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which is critical for virus infection of host cells.
