Utrophin Antibody (MANCHO7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects utrophin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Utrophin is a crucial structural protein that shares significant homology with dystrophin and plays a vital role in stabilizing the muscle cell membrane by anchoring the cytoskeleton to the plasma membrane. Anti-utrophin antibody (MANCHO7) recognizes a protein predominantly localized to the inner surface of the plasma membrane in muscle and brain tissues, where utrophin is essential for maintaining cellular integrity and function. Utrophin′s importance lies in its ability to compensate for the loss of dystrophin in conditions such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, where dystrophin deficiency leads to severe muscle degeneration. Notably, utrophin can interact with various dystrophin-associated proteins, and utrophin upregulation has been shown to mitigate the pathological effects of dystrophin loss, making utrophin a potential therapeutic target for muscular dystrophies. Anti-utrophin antibody (MANCHO7) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying muscle biology and the molecular mechanisms underlying muscular dystrophies, providing insights into utrophin′s role in cellular architecture and disease progression.
