USP48 Antibody (5C2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the USP48 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). USP48 (5C2) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. USP48, also known as ubiquitin specific peptidase 48 or USP31, is a crucial component of the ubiquitin-proteasome system, which regulates various cellular processes by controlling protein degradation. This 1,035 amino acid protein is widely expressed and belongs to the peptidase C19 family, featuring three DUSP domains and one ubiquitin-like domain. USP48 functions primarily as a deubiquitinating enzyme, cleaving ubiquitin residues from ubiquitinylated proteins and ubiquitin-fused precursors, thus preventing their degradation by the proteasome. This activity is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating key signaling pathways, including the NFκB pathway, by reversing the ubiquitination of proteins such as TRAF2 and TRAF6. Notably, USP48 is subject to alternative splicing, resulting in the expression of seven distinct isoforms, which may have unique regulatory roles in various biological contexts.

Can sc-100635: USP48 (5C2) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100635: USP48 (5C2) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
