SEE ALSO...

UKHC Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects UKHC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UKHC (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. UKHC protein, also known as ubiquitous kinesin heavy chain, plays a crucial role in intracellular transport, facilitating the movement of organelles and vesicles along microtubules, which is essential for maintaining cellular organization and function. UKHC protein is particularly important in neurons, where UKHC supports the transport of synaptic vesicles and other critical components necessary for neurotransmission. Structurally, kinesin proteins, including UKHC, are characterized by three distinct domains: a large globular N-terminal domain that regulates ATP hydrolysis and microtubule binding, central coiled-coil domains that promote dimerization of heavy chains, and small globular C-terminal domains that interact with kinesin light chains and various membranous organelles. UKHC expression is predominantly localized in areas of active vesicular trafficking, such as the microtubule pathways in neural cells and the Golgi apparatus in non-neural cell types, highlighting UKHC′s vital role in cellular transport mechanisms.

Can UKHC (F-5): sc-133184 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. Yes, UKHC (F-5): sc-133184 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
