UCP4 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects UCP4 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-UCP4 antibody (A-5) is available as the non-conjugated form. UCP4, also known as SLC25A27, is a member of the uncoupling protein family, which plays a crucial role in thermoregulation and energy metabolism. UCP4 is primarily located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, where UCP4 facilitates proton transport, dissipating the proton gradient and generating heat instead of ATP. This function is particularly important in thermogenic tissues, such as brown adipose tissue, where UCPs help regulate metabolic rate and energy expenditure. UCP4 is unique among its family members due to expression in both fetal and adult brain tissues, indicating potential involvement in brain thermoregulation and metabolic adaptation. UCP4 mRNA levels increase in response to acute cold exposure, suggesting a role in the brain′s response to environmental changes. UCP4 consists of 323 amino acids and features specific sequences in its alpha-helices that are critical for fatty acid anion binding and translocation, further underscoring importance in metabolic processes.
