Ubr2 Antibody (8H10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Ubr2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Ubr2 antibody (8H10) is available as a non-conjugated format. Ubr2, also known as Ubiquitin-protein ligase E3-alpha-2 or N-recognin-2, is a crucial component of the ubiquitin-proteasome system, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by regulating protein degradation. This 1755 amino acid protein features one UBR-type zinc finger and one RING-type zinc finger, which are vital for its function as an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase. Ubr2 specifically recognizes proteins with destabilizing N-terminal residues, facilitating their ubiquitination and subsequent degradation, a process that is particularly important for controlling the levels of short-lived or abnormal proteins within the cell. The proper functioning of Ubr2 is critical, as evidenced by studies showing that mice lacking Ubr2 are infertile due to defects in male meiosis, highlighting Ubr2′s role in reproductive biology.
