UBE2G2 Antibody (2E6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects UBE2G2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UBE2G2, also known as UBC7, is a 165 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome system, specifically in ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation. This process is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis by regulating the levels of short-lived or damaged proteins, thereby preventing the accumulation of potentially harmful proteins that could disrupt cellular functions. UBE2G2 acts as an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme, facilitating the transfer of ubiquitin moieties to target proteins, a key step in marking them for degradation. UBE2G2 is expressed throughout various tissues in the body and shares 100% sequence identity with its mouse counterpart, highlighting its evolutionary conservation and functional importance. Additionally, UBE2G2 is implicated in endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD), a pathway that ensures the removal of misfolded proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum, thus preventing cellular stress and maintaining protein quality control. Notably, two isoforms of UBE2G2 exist due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to its functional diversity and regulatory mechanisms within different cellular contexts.
