    SEE ALSO...

Tup1 Antibody (Clone 10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Tup1 protein of Saccharomyces cerevisiae origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). anti-Tup1 antibody (Clone 10) is available as a non-conjugated format, providing researchers with a reliable tool for studying this critical protein. Tup1 plays a vital role in the regulation of gene expression, functioning as a transcriptional repressor that modulates the activity of various genes, particularly those involved in cell cycle progression and metabolic processes. Tup1 interaction with Ssn6 protein forms a general transcriptional repression complex, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to environmental changes. Tup1-Ssn6 complex inhibits the expression of genes that promote cell growth under unfavorable conditions, thereby allowing yeast to conserve resources. Tup1 is involved in the recruitment of chromatin remodeling complexes, such as SNF-SWI complex, which alters chromatin structure to facilitate transcriptional activation when conditions become favorable. Understanding Tup1 function and interactions is crucial for elucidating the mechanisms of gene regulation in yeast and can provide insights into similar processes in higher eukaryotes.

Hello. I had a question about Tup1 protein migration. In the illustration on your website, Tup1 protein that is recognized by your antibody migrates around 35 kDa but actual size of Tup1 is around 80 kDa. Why would the Tup1 band be located at 35 kDa?

    Asked by: Susan Lee
Thank you for your question. The Western blot data you are referring to is not representative of the endogenous Tup1 protein. This is Western blot data of a recombinant Tup1 protein that is not full-length, only amino acids 1-200 of yeast Tup1.
