    SEE ALSO...

TTBK1 Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TTBK1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TTBK1 (B-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TTBK1, also known as tau tubulin kinase 1 or brain-derived tau kinase, is a 1,321 amino acid protein that features a single protein kinase domain and is classified within the serine/threonine protein kinase family. TTBK1 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and is highly expressed in the brain, with lower expression levels found in the testis and spinal cord. TTBK1 plays a crucial role in phosphorylating Tau, a protein essential for tubulin polymerization, on threonine, tyrosine, and serine residues. The phosphorylation process, which is catalyzed by TTBK1 using divalent cations like magnesium and manganese, leads to the formation of a phosphoprotein and adenosine diphosphate (ADP). This modification of Tau is significant as it promotes Tau aggregation and results in a loss of its functional capacity, highlighting TTBK1′s important role in regulating tubulin dynamics. TTBK1 is known to interact with several other proteins, including microtubule-associated proteins, which further underscores its involvement in cellular processes related to cytoskeletal organization and neuronal function. Two isoforms of TTBK1 arise from alternative splicing, adding complexity to its regulatory mechanisms and functional diversity.
