SEE ALSO...

Trx Antibody (Trx1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Thioredoxin (Trx) of E. coli origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Trx antibody (Trx1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Trx is a crucial redox protein that plays a significant role in cellular processes across various species, including bacteria, plants, and mammals. Trx contains a conserved active site characterized by the sequence Trp-Cys-Gly-Pro-Cys, which is essential for function. Trx serves as a hydrogen donor for ribonucleotide reductase, an enzyme critical for DNA synthesis, maintaining redox balance within cells. This function influences cell proliferation and survival, impacting processes such as growth and apoptosis. Trx modulates DNA-binding activity of several transcription factors, including NFkB, AP-1, p53, TFIIIC, and glucocorticoid receptor, which are integral to various signaling pathways. Trx involvement in these pathways highlights potential roles in human diseases, including cancer, where inhibition has been associated with antitumor activity. Trx interacts with Thioredoxin Reductase (TrxR), a flavoprotein that catalyzes NADPH-dependent reduction of oxidized cellular components, underscoring importance in cellular redox homeostasis and therapeutic strategies.
