Trehalase Antibody (D-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Trehalase protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Trehalase (D-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Trehalase, also known as TREH, TREA, or alpha,alpha-trehalose glucohydrolase, is a 583 amino acid protein that belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 37 family and is primarily localized to the cell membrane and lipid anchors. Trehalase is predominantly expressed in the kidney, liver, and small intestine, where Trehalase plays a crucial role in hydrolyzing trehalose, a disaccharide composed of two glucose molecules found mainly in insects, fungi, and plants, into glucose, which serves as a vital energy source for cellular metabolism. Deficiencies in Trehalase can lead to trehalose intolerance, resulting in gastrointestinal symptoms, and may also serve as a marker for renal tubular damage. Trehalase features an N-terminal signal peptide, five potential N-glycosylation sites, and a C-terminal hydrophobic region that facilitates glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) attachment. Additionally, Trehalase exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, and the gene encoding Trehalase is located on human chromosome 11q23.3.
