translin Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects translin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-translin antibody (C-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Translin, also known as testis brain-RNA-binding protein (TB-RBP), plays a crucial role in regulating mRNA translation by binding to the 3′ untranslated regions of stored mRNAs, specifically the Y and H elements, thereby suppressing their in vitro translation. The human translin gene is located on chromosome 2q21.1 and encodes a highly conserved protein that exhibits a unique ring-shaped structure essential for DNA-binding capabilities. This structural feature, along with a leucine zipper motif, facilitates the formation of dimers, which is vital for exporting specific mRNAs from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, particularly in neurons. Translin′s presence in both the nucleus and cytoplasm underscores its importance in regulating mRNA translation. Additionally, translin interacts with Trax (translin-associated factor X), which modulates binding properties, enhancing affinity for single-stranded DNA while inhibiting RNA binding. Notably, translin is implicated in chromosomal translocations associated with liposarcomas, as breakpoints in the TLS/FUS and CHOP loci contain consensus recognition motifs for translin, highlighting its potential role in genomic stability and cancer biology.
