Tom1 Antibody (RQ-07) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Tom1 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Tom1, or Target of Myb 1, is a 492 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role in intracellular trafficking, particularly in the translocation of ubiquitinated proteins to early endosomes for degradation, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating protein turnover. Tom1 is predominantly expressed in the heart, liver, placenta, and skeletal muscle, highlighting Tom1′s importance in tissues with high metabolic activity. Tom1 features one GAT domain and one VHS domain, which facilitate Tom1′s interactions with other proteins such as Tollip and endofin (also known as SARA), thereby recruiting Tom1 to the endosome and enabling participation in the endosomal trafficking of ubiquitin-tagged proteins. Notably, human Tom1 exhibits 76% similarity with its chicken counterpart and 89% similarity with its mouse counterpart, indicating a conserved function across species and underscoring Tom1′s significance in cellular processes.
