TMEM40 Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TMEM40 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TMEM40 (A-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Transmembrane protein 40 (TMEM40) is a 233 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that exists in two isoforms and is localized to chromosome 3p25.1, a region known for involvement in various genetic disorders and cancers. TMEM40 plays a significant role in collagen-induced arthritis, highlighting TMEM40′s importance in inflammatory processes. Additionally, TMEM40′s location within the cell membrane suggests involvement in cellular signaling pathways and interactions with extracellular matrix components, which are crucial for maintaining tissue integrity and mediating cellular responses to environmental cues. Chromosome 3, where TMEM40 is located, is notable for harboring a chemokine receptor gene cluster and several loci associated with human cancers, including key tumor suppressor genes that regulate apoptosis and cell migration. Understanding TMEM40′s function and interactions can provide insights into potential roles in disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.

Can TMEM40 (A-9): sc-393601 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, TMEM40 (A-9): sc-393601 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
