TLR5 Antibody (85B152.5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects TLR5 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and flow cytometry (FCM). TLR5, a member of the Toll-like receptor family, plays a crucial role in the innate immune response by recognizing bacterial flagellin, a key component of flagella, which is essential for motility in many pathogenic bacteria. Upon binding to flagellin, TLR5 initiates a signaling cascade that activates nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) and other transcription factors, leading to the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and the recruitment of immune cells to sites of infection. This process is vital for the host′s defense against bacterial infections, as TLR5 helps to establish an effective immune response. TLR5 is predominantly expressed in the ovary and peripheral blood leukocytes, particularly in monocytes, and is also found in lower levels in the prostate and testis. TLR5′s ability to detect flagellated bacteria underscores its importance in the immune system′s ability to distinguish between self and non-self, making TLR5 a significant target for research in immunology and infectious diseases.
