TIGAR Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects TIGAR (TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TIGAR is a 270 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism and stress response, being induced by the p53 tumor suppressor pathway to protect cells against oxidative stress. One of the key functions of TIGAR is its ability to lower intracellular levels of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate, which is a potent activator of glycolysis. By inhibiting glycolysis, TIGAR redirects metabolic flux towards the pentose phosphate pathway, thereby reducing the concentration of reactive oxygen species within the cell. This function is particularly important as excessive reactive oxygen species can cause DNA damage and trigger apoptosis, highlighting TIGAR′s protective role in maintaining cellular integrity under stress conditions. Anti-TIGAR antibody (F-5) is an essential tool for researchers studying the mechanisms of cellular metabolism and the protective responses mediated by the p53 pathway.
