THP Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects THP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). THP Antibody (B-2) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein (THP), also known as uromodulin, is the most abundant protein found in normal urine, synthesized by kidney epithelial cells and excreted at a rate of 50-100 mg per day. THP plays a crucial role in the urinary system, particularly in maintaining renal water balance and modulating immune responses. THP is involved in the formation of calcium-containing kidney stones, alongside other urinary glycoproteins such as uropontin and nephrocalcin. A unique glycosyl phosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor allows THP to be expressed on the luminal surface of renal epithelial cells, where THP can effectively inhibit bacterial adhesion and block early events required for T-cell proliferation, highlighting THP′s potential as a therapeutic target in immunological disorders. The gene encoding THP is located on human chromosome 16p12.3 and is considered a candidate gene for nephrolithiasis, making THP a significant focus for research in kidney health and disease.
