TFPI Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TFPI protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TFPI (G-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) plays a crucial role in regulating the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation, which is vital for maintaining hemostasis and preventing excessive bleeding. TFPI functions by directly inhibiting factor Xa and, in an Xa-dependent manner, also inhibits the catalytic complex formed by factor VIIa and tissue factor, thereby preventing the propagation of coagulation. This regulation is particularly important in pathological conditions where tissue factor is aberrantly expressed, such as in cancer and inflammatory diseases, as TFPI helps to control thrombus formation and maintain vascular integrity. Additionally, TFPI is a multivalent, Kunitz-type proteinase inhibitor that circulates in association with plasma lipoproteins, including very low-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, and high-density lipoprotein, which may influence bioavailability and functional activity in the bloodstream. TFPI-2, a related glycoprotein originally isolated from human placenta, further underscores the complexity and significance of the TFPI family in coagulation and cellular signaling processes.
