TEM8 Antibody (200C1339) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects TEM8 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). TEM8, also known as tumor endothelial marker 8, plays a crucial role in tumor angiogenesis, as TEM8 is highly expressed in tumor endothelial cells while remaining largely absent in normal endothelial cells. This differential expression highlights TEM8 as a potential target for cancer therapies aimed at disrupting blood supply to tumors. TEM8 is characterized by an N-terminal region, which encodes the anthrax toxin receptor (ATR), a type I membrane protein that facilitates anthrax toxin components′ entry into cells. The interaction between TEM8 and ATR helps understand how anthrax toxin evades the immune system, as ATR binds the protective antigen component, allowing delivery of lethal factors into the cytosol. The first 364 amino acids of ATR are identical to TEM8, indicating a close relationship, although C-terminal regions differ due to alternative splicing. This structural distinction may influence functional roles in tumor biology and toxin susceptibility, making TEM8 significant for cancer and infectious disease research.
