SUR-1 Antibody (3G5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the SUR-1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SUR-1 antibody (3G5) is available as the non-conjugated format. The sulfonylurea receptor-1 (SUR-1) protein plays a crucial role in regulating glucose-induced insulin secretion by modulating K-ATP channel activity in pancreatic beta cells. SUR-1 regulation maintains glucose homeostasis in the body, as improper channel functioning can lead to severe metabolic disorders. Loss-of-function mutations in SUR-1 are implicated in Persistent Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia of Infancy (PHHI), causing excessive insulin secretion that can result in hypoglycemia, coma, and potential brain damage. The interaction between SUR-1 and Kir 6.x proteins is essential for proper channel functioning, highlighting SUR-1′s importance in both pancreatic and cardiac physiology. Understanding SUR-1 function and associated pathways is critical for developing therapeutic strategies for conditions related to insulin regulation and cardiac health.
