Datasheets
  • Steroid sulfatase/STS Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM κ provided at 200 µg/ml
  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 514-531 of STS of human origin
  • recommended for detection of STS of human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA
  • m-IgGκ BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for Steroid sulfatase/STS Antibody (A-6) for WB applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with Steroid sulfatase/STS Antibody (A-6) (see ordering information below). For additional m-IgGκ BP conjugates see our complete list of Mouse IgG Binding Proteins.

    SEE ALSO...

STS Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa light chain antibody specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 514-531 of STS of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-STS antibody (A-6) is available as the non-conjugated form. Steroid sulfatase (STS) is an enzymatic homodimer located in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, where STS plays a crucial role in converting sulfated steroid precursors into bioactive estrogens, particularly during pregnancy. This enzymatic activity maintains hormonal balance and supports reproductive functions. Notably, retinoids stimulate STS activity, thereby influencing estrogen levels. Mutations in the STS gene are linked to X-linked ichthyosis, a diskeratinization disorder characterized by prominent scales on the skin. Elevated STS expression has been observed in human breast carcinoma and acute promyelocytic leukemia, indicating STS′s role in tumor growth and making STS a potential therapeutic target for estrogen- and androgen-dependent diseases. STS monoclonal antibody (A-6) serves as an essential tool for researchers investigating STS implications in health and disease.
