SRA Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects steroid receptor RNA activator (SRA) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SRA plays a crucial role in mediating the transactivation of steroid hormone receptors, functioning as both an RNA transcript and a stably expressed protein. This dual nature allows SRA to form complexes with steroid receptor coactivator-1, enhancing the transcriptional activity of estrogen receptor alpha (ERalpha). Notably, SRA contains six essential RNA motifs that are integral to its coactivation capabilities. SRA is widely expressed across various normal tissues, with particularly high levels found in the liver and skeletal muscle, while exhibiting lower expression in the brain. SRA is overexpressed in breast tumors compared to normal tissue, suggesting a potential role in cancer biology. Furthermore, the interaction between SRA and the SMRT/HDAC1 associated repressor protein (SHARP) highlights a regulatory mechanism where SHARP can inhibit SRA-potentiated steroid receptor transcription, underscoring the importance of SRA in hormonal signaling pathways. anti-SRA antibody (C-5) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the complexities of steroid receptor regulation and its implications in health and disease.
