SEE ALSO...

Spastin Antibody (Sp 3G11/1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Spastin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Spastin antibody (Sp 3G11/1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Spastin, a member of the AAA protein family, consists of 616 amino acids and plays a crucial role in microtubule dynamics, which are essential for maintaining cellular structure and facilitating intracellular transport. Proper functioning of Spastin is vital for nuclear protein complex assembly and function, and dysregulation can lead to significant cellular dysfunction. Notably, mutations in the Spastin gene (SPAST, SPG4) are linked to the most prevalent form of hereditary spastic paraplegia, specifically spastic paraplegia 4, which is characterized by progressive weakness and stiffness in the lower limbs due to retrograde axonopathy affecting corticospinal motor neurons. Approximately 40% of all autosomal dominant hereditary spastic paraplegias are attributed to SPAST-specific mutations, underscoring Spastin′s importance in neurological health.
