SEE ALSO...

Spastin Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects Spastin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Spastin antibody (C-3) is available as a non-conjugated format. Spastin, a member of the AAA protein family, is a 616 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in microtubule dynamics, which is essential for maintaining cellular structure and function. Spastin (C-3) antibody recognizes nuclear and cytoplasmic locations, where Spastin is involved in microtubule disassembly, a process vital for various cellular activities, including cell division and intracellular transport. Disruption of microtubule dynamics can lead to severe cellular dysfunction, highlighting Spastin′s importance in maintaining cellular integrity. Mutations in the Spastin gene (SPAST, SPG4) are linked to the most common form of spastic paraplegia 4, an autosomal dominant hereditary spastic paraplegia characterized by progressive weakness and stiffness in the lower limbs due to retrograde axonopathy of corticospinal motor neurons. Approximately 40% of all autosomal dominant hereditary spastic paraplegias are attributed to SPAST-specific mutations, underscoring Spastin′s significance in neurological health.
