SEE ALSO...

SOD-1 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects SOD-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SOD-1 antibody (B-1) is available in a non-conjugated form, specifically designed for researchers seeking to study the role of Cu-Zn superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD-1) in various biological contexts. SOD-1 is a crucial cytosolic enzyme that acts as a scavenger of superoxide radicals, converting them into less harmful hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen, thereby protecting cells from oxidative stress. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining cellular health, particularly in tissues that are highly susceptible to oxidative damage, such as the nervous system. SOD-1 functions as a homodimer and requires the binding of copper and zinc ions for activity, which underscores the importance of metal ion homeostasis in cellular defense mechanisms. Notably, mutations in SOD-1 have been linked to severe neurodegenerative conditions, including familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), where the loss of zinc binding leads to diminished scavenging activity and increased neurotoxicity, ultimately resulting in motor neuron degeneration. Understanding SOD-1 and its interactions with other cellular components is essential for elucidating the mechanisms underlying these diseases and developing potential therapeutic strategies.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with SOD-1 (B-1): sc-271014?

Asked by: cjMara
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ) conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety

Is this sc-271014 available directly conjugated to HRP or fluorescent dyes?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. All requests for directly conjugated versions of this antibody should be directed to our Special Orders team at specialorders@scbt.com Alternatively, consider using SOD-1 Antibody (G-11): sc-17767, which is available conjugated to agarose, HRP, FITC, PE, and more.
