Snurportin-1 Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Snurportin-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Snurportin-1, also known as SNUPN, KPNBL, or RNUT1 (RNA U transporter 1), is a crucial nuclear import adaptor protein that plays a significant role in the transport of U small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (U snRNPs) into the nucleus, a vital step in the maturation of the spliceosome. Snurportin-1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and nucleus, where Snurportin-1 contains an N-terminal importin β-binding (IBB) domain and a trimethylguanosine (m3G)-cap binding domain, allowing specific binding to the terminal 2,2,7-m3G-cap at the 5′ end of U snRNPs. The interaction between Snurportin-1, U snRNPs, and Importin β forms a complex essential for the nuclear import process. After import, depending on the specific U snRNP (such as U1 or U2), Snurportin-1 may localize to Cajal bodies, which are important for RNA processing and assembly. In the nucleus, CRM1 binds to Snurportin-1, facilitating recycling back to the cytoplasm for subsequent rounds of U snRNP import, thereby ensuring efficient and continuous transport of these critical components necessary for RNA splicing.
