SLC4A4 Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SLC4A4 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SLC4A4 (G-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SLC4A4 protein, also known as solute carrier family 4, sodium bicarbonate cotransporter, member 4, is a 1,079 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining acid-base balance within cells. SLC4A4 functions as an electrogenic sodium/bicarbonate cotransporter, facilitating the transport of bicarbonate ions across the basolateral membrane of epithelial cells, which is essential for regulating intracellular pH. This regulation is particularly important in tissues such as the kidney and pancreas, where precise control of bicarbonate levels is vital for normal physiological function. Mutations in SLC4A4 can lead to proximal renal tubular acidosis with ocular abnormalities, a condition characterized by significant health issues including short stature, cognitive impairment, and vision problems. SLC4A4 exists as four alternatively spliced isoforms, each potentially contributing to diverse physiological roles.
