SLC13A5 Antibody (2G4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the SLC13A5 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SLC13A5 antibody (2G4) is available as the non-conjugated format. SLC13A5, also known as the solute carrier family 13 (sodium-dependent citrate transporter), member 5, is a 568 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism. SLC13A5 is primarily located in the liver, brain, and testicular tissues, where SLC13A5 functions as a high-affinity sodium/citrate cotransporter, facilitating the electrogenic import of citrate into cells. SLC13A5′s ability to transport citrate is vital for various metabolic processes, including the generation of metabolic energy and the synthesis of cholesterol and fatty acids. Additionally, the gene encoding SLC13A5 is situated on human chromosome 17, a region that is significant not only for its high gene density but also for its association with key tumor suppressor genes such as p53 and BRCA1, which are critical for maintaining genomic stability and preventing cancer. SLC13A5′s interaction with these pathways underscores its importance in both normal physiology and potential disease states, making SLC13A5 a valuable target for research in metabolic disorders and cancer biology.

Can sc-293277: SLC13A5 (2G4) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-293277: SLC13A5 (2G4) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
