Septin 8 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects Septin 8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Septin 8 antibody (C-5) is available as a non-conjugated format. Septin 8, a 508 amino acid protein, is crucial for various cellular processes, including vesicle trafficking, apoptosis, cytoskeleton remodeling, and cytokinesis, highlighting its importance in maintaining cellular integrity and function. Septin 8 is predominantly expressed in the brain, cardiovascular regions, prostate, testis, and ovary, indicating diverse roles in different tissues. Septin 8 interacts with Septin 5 and cell division cycle-related protein 1 (CDCrel-1), suggesting involvement in complex cellular networks. CDCrel-1, a member of the Cdc2-related kinase family, points to a potential regulatory role of Septin 8 in cell cycle progression and signaling pathways. Septin 8, along with Septin 4 and Septin 5, forms a complex that surrounds alpha-granules in platelets, implicating these septins in platelet biology and their potential impact on hemostasis and thrombosis.
