Septin 5 Antibody (SP18) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Septin 5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Septin 5 antibody (SP18) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Septin 5 plays a crucial role in the organization of the cytoskeleton and is involved in various cellular processes, including cytokinesis and exocytosis. Septin 5′s ability to form heteropolymer complexes is essential for maintaining cellular architecture and function, particularly during cell division. Septin 5 is implicated in the regulation of neurodegenerative processes, as Septin 5 interacts with other proteins associated with neurofibrillary tangles, such as tau. Complex transcriptional regulation of septins leads to the generation of alternatively spliced variants, which can have distinct functional roles in different tissues. Septin 5 is predominantly expressed in the adult neocortex, highlighting Septin 5′s importance in neuronal function and development.
