Selenoprotein S Antibody (D-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Selenoprotein S protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Selenoprotein S (D-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Selenoprotein S, also known as VIMP or SELS, is a critical 189 amino acid single-pass membrane protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), where Selenoprotein S plays a vital role in maintaining cellular homeostasis. Selenoprotein S contains a selenocysteine residue at its active site, which is essential for function in the degradation of misfolded ER proteins. By interacting with Derlin-1 and valosin-containing protein (VCP), Selenoprotein S facilitates the transfer of these misfolded proteins from the ER to the cytosol, where misfolded proteins are targeted for proteasomal degradation. This process is crucial for preventing the accumulation of dysfunctional proteins that can lead to cellular stress and disease. Aberrant expression of Selenoprotein S has been linked to various pathologies, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, highlighting Selenoprotein S importance in both health and disease.
