SELENBP1 Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SELENBP1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin, as well as SELENBP2 of mouse origin, through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-SELENBP1 antibody (G-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SELENBP1, also known as selenium binding protein 1, plays a crucial role in cellular processes by binding selenium, an essential trace element incorporated into selenoproteins as selenocysteine. This binding is vital for proper functioning of various selenoproteins, which are involved in antioxidant defense and thyroid hormone metabolism. SELENBP1 is a 472 amino acid peripheral membrane protein that exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms and is implicated in detecting xenobiotics within the cytoplasm. SELENBP1′s involvement in intra-Golgi protein transport, selenium-dependent cell growth inhibition, and regulation of protein degradation through ubiquitination and deubiquitination processes highlights its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis. SELENBP1 is highly expressed in tissues such as prostate, lung, kidney, pancreas, and liver, and shows notably upregulated expression in blood and brain of individuals with schizophrenia, suggesting a potential role in neuropsychiatric disorders.
