    SEE ALSO...

SELB Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SELB protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SELB (G-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SELB protein, also known as selenocysteine-specific elongation factor or EEFSEC, is a crucial 596 amino acid protein that plays a vital role in the translation process by facilitating selenocysteine incorporation into proteins, which is essential for proper functioning of various enzymes and proteins that rely on this unique amino acid. SELB localization in both nucleus and cytoplasm underscores SELB′s importance in cellular processes, as SELB is involved in synthesis of proteins critical for cellular metabolism and signaling pathways. SELB gene is located on human chromosome 3, a region harboring over 1,100 genes, including several implicated in cancer and other genetic disorders. Notably, chromosome 3 contains key tumor suppressor genes, such as RASSF1, which is involved in apoptosis, and HYAL1, which regulates cell migration, highlighting SELB′s potential implications in cancer biology and therapeutic strategies.

Can SELB (G-9): sc-166521 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. Yes, SELB (G-9): sc-166521 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
